Indian Children’s Program offers a wide range of services to educators, paraprofessionals, health care providers, and families working or living within our service areas.
Team evaluations are available for any child up to 18 years of age living on a reservation or pueblo in our service areas. The ICP staff work with the local health or education programs to ensure that ICP does not duplicate or supplant existing services. ICP evaluations are provided when the local programs lack the personnel or other resources to provide the service. ICP staff are available as a team or individually to help local programs fill the gaps in their communities. Evaluations are available to address one or more of the following concerns or needs:
ICP provides assistance in identifying available community, tribal, state, and federal services for children and their families. ICP also provides planning and coordinating services for children moving from one program or agency to another to increase the chance that children have continuity in the services they receive.
Direct services are available to address a child’s needs as identified in an Individual Family Service Plan or Individual Education Plan or at the request of families or health care providers. Services are coordinated with other service providers or programs that may be serving a child and his or her family and are provided when no other resources are available. Direct service can include speech/language, physical, or occupational therapy, and assistance with developing and implementing behavior plans.
Technical assistance and training is available from Indian Children’s Program staff for individuals with specific questions or problems related to child development and/or disability issues and is often provided as part of an ICP evaluation.
Training regarding serving children with disabilities for medical and educational professionals, families, and communities is available on request.
ICP also offers information and materials from our library to professionals and families.
